Where can I find a 2 person stand-alone hammock?
Any recommendations? I would love to spend less than $150 but I am flexible. I'd like a comfortable hammock (with stand) that can fit two people. Has anyone seen anything like this when shopping for patio furniture? Thank you!
Ive seen them at Home Depot actually. Didnt check the price though. See More

I have a hammock and need to know what size hammock stand to buy. How do you measure?
my hammock is about 13 feet 6 inches from tip to tip including the chain link that attatches it to the stand. Thanks!

What type of hammock would you recommend?
I'm looking for a two person hammock, probably able to hold 500 pounds. It will be used outdoors. I'm looking for something with minimal maintenance yet comfortable. I plan to tie it to two trees versus a hammock stand.
Hanging them on trees looks cool cause you see it on TV, Cartoons, Gilagands Island and stuff, but the stand is actually much better. The ... See More

I have a Hammock with a metal hammock stand that continues to rust..what can I do?
when I got the hammock I sprayed it with rustoleum - but it rusted. It has the stand that is in pieces - so I took it apart sanded the edges and the rusty spots (the edges/joints and the spots where it touches the grass) and again sprayed it with rustoleum and again it rusted!! Is there something else I can do? It is a rather heavy stand and it takes a lot to sand and respray this and I would rather not have to do it each year!! Please help!!

Can two 4x4's buried in the ground support a hammock?
Can I bury a few feet of two 4x4's in the ground and hang my hammock on it instead of getting or building a big hammock stand? We just moved and have no good trees for the hammock.
You would be better off posting two steel poles in the ground as the wood from the four by fours would rot in the ground See More

How far should I dig the holes for a 4 x 4 hammock stand?
I have two 4x4 posts and was told that for a hammock i would need to dig the holes 5 ft down-put the 4x4 posts in and then back fill with cement. Problem is the ground is extremely hard and I am tapping out at 4 ft. Does 5 ft seem right as far as the depth needed for a hammock?
I'm no expert, but I'm sure that you won't want to fall. Might hurt. And probably so; my grandfather has a mailbox he put into the ground ... See More

How do I build a sturdy hammock stand, thats all curved?
I caught a fleeting glance of a curved hammock stand, it seemed to be made of only about 5-7 pieces of curved and strait pieces of lumber. I have searched the bowls of the internet and can't find any way to curve sturdy lumber, please help. thank you ha, well of course im up for a huge learning expreince. But before I jump in, I guess i really just want to know, how expensive it will be to actually bend wood (as in equipment).
Unless you're up for a huge learning experience don't even think about bending wood. I've made windsor chairs for 40 years and teach wood ... See More
Would you recommend sleeping in a camping hammock as a normal bed?
I'm about 5'5, 140 pounds if that helps. But I was just wondering if it would be comfortable enough, and not bad on your back. I was planning on getting a camping hammock, not the kind you see on the beach, and putting it on a hammock stand in my room. Thanks.
That's a bit weird! It'd make it hard to bring women home! See More

brookstone rope hammock too low to ground?
hey, i just got a hammock today from brookstone. I hung the hammock on the steel stand, like the directions said and i sat in it only to hit the ground... the directions said this is normal and that i had to keep on doing this until i was at a comfortable height. the only problem with this is that my hammock is now as tight as it can go on my stand and i am not that heavy and when i lay in it i am only a few inches from the ground, this is clearly not right, and rope hammocks stretch out rapidly, so... you see the problem here, ... what to do?

What can I build a portable geodome (geodesic dome) shelter with that will support a hammock?
I would like to make a portable geodome shelter for camping, music festivals, and general fun. The internet has told me that it is possible to make a pretty sturdy geodome with just about anything from newspaper to human hair to crystal and back again. I would like to make a shelter hearty enough to support at least one hammock and, in a perfect world, tall enough to stand up in. This model is appealing: http://www.eham.net/articles/11300 or possibly even a little bigger. What should I build this masterpiece with so that it won't implode with the addition of a hammock(s)? The website I quoted above suggests conduit; many of the prefab ones are made of PVC or something, which seems to me like it would be scary to hammock from. I don't have a lot of experience with conduit (I had to google what it was), but it seems like it can be made from a variety of metals. My thinking at this point is steel conduit. Is there anyone out there who is good at math, or who is knowledgeable about the capabilities conduit, who could back up this choice in a more educated sense than "steel is pretty strong... right?" OR, better yet, anyone with actual experience hammocking from their portable geodome? Also, if you have the time or patience to keep this in mind, I am hilariously poor, so while diamond rods would probably be ideal, that suggestion would be completely unhelpful. Thank you, fellow internet people!
As a practical solution, I personally would separate the problem into two parts: 1. A light-weight geodesic dome. The dome struts would ... See More
Where can I get a..............?
Hammock stand? STAND only. When I look online (NZ sites only, I live in NZ) I can only find really intensely luxurious stands for like $500+, or ones that come with the hammock aswell. Is there any way of making a stand? Could I make one from wood or would it have to be some sort of metal? Any ideas? Also if you know of any cheap & LEGIT online places that are overseas (USA or whatevs) I would consider, but shipping is likely to be insanely expensive. Cheers
You can get a hammock stand online anywhere.. they aren't cheap either! Try amazon.com...sometimes they have great deals on shipping. See More
